Denis Shapovalov delivered a stunning performance at the 2025 ATP Dallas Open, securing his third career title with an impressive 7-6(5), 6-3 victory over Casper Ruud in the final. The Canadian showcased his world-class talent throughout the tournament, defeating two top-10 players en route to the championship.
Shapovalov’s campaign in Dallas saw him overcome World No. 9 Taylor Fritz in a hard-fought quarter-final battle, prevailing 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(2). His powerful serve and aggressive baseline play proved too much for the American, as he sealed the match in a tense final-set tiebreak.
The semi-final saw the Canadian continue his fine form, dispatching another highly ranked opponent before facing World No. 5 Ruud in the final. Shapovalov handled the pressure brilliantly, saving the only break point he faced and firing 13 aces to dominate the contest. His first-serve efficiency was key, winning 72% of points behind it.
This victory marks Shapovalov’s first title at ATP 500 level and his first trophy since 2024. His triumph over three top-10 opponents in the space of a few days signals a return to top form, and he will no doubt be a major contender as the season progresses.
